A new study shows that how you decorate your house will affect your cats mood. This study confirms what those who practice cat shui, related to feng shui but as it affects cats, have been saying for years. Your house should be in harmony with your cat. “It’s much easier to decorate around your cat than to find a cat to match your house.” Dr. Chase Jesse, noted animal psychologist tells us.
How was this study done? Dr. Jesse explains. “My assistant moved in with me for several months with her cat and we carefully watched the behavior of her cat and my cat. She owns a black domestic shorthair named Ninja. Mine is an Ocelot named Spot. I went through great trouble to decorate my house around my cat. The decor isn’t my favorite, but it’s growing on me. It’s done in African colors and leopard spots to match my cat. All except my bedroom, but he doesn’t go in there much, even when he does the Bavarian decor seems to agree with him, even if he does clash with the blue. The interesting thing is, while he will sleep in there, he won’t play. I haven’t figured that out.”
Dr. Jesse is firm that having a strange cat in the house doesn’t affect his study any. “Spot seems to get along really well with Ninja. They seem to like each other well enough that we may end up with a litter of kittens.”
His assistants cat was chosen because he wouldn’t totaly clash with the decor, but it would be off just enough that it would affect his behavior.

“The thing is, when Ninja is downstairs he seems much easier to get along with and will play. Spot also likes it best downstairs.”
“Both cats blend in much better downstairs.” Critics have questioned this study wondering if the behavior changes have anything to do with the change in altitude between the two floors. Dr. Jesse believes it doesn’t. “That is the craziest thing I have ever heard.”
“Studys have shown that different colors affect peoples moods, it’s the same with cats. They may be color blind, but their inner chi knows when things are in balanced with them. If we were to take either of these cats and put them in a green room, they would go insane. Most cats don’t do well with green. Why do you think they eat house plants?”
